The owner of a farm market in Lancaster County has spent thousands of dollars and lost hours and hours of production due to man-made legislation and regulation (all instituted for the “common good”). A dutiful zoning officer appears to have been monitoring Jesse Smucker’s operation for years, and finally informed him that his Smucker’s Farm Market was in violation of a local ordinance that limits the sales area to 500 square feet. Though Smucker did not break God’s Law or harm his neighbor, he is now enmeshed in statist bureaucracy and costly legal meetings.
